If you are in need of primary physician care, it is important to understand the differences between the different types of medical practices. Family medicine is a type of primary care, but a family practitioner provides medical services to patients of all ages. The medical professionals of Chapel Hill Primary Care focus on practising internal medicine for adults and some adolescents, so you will always receive the attention you deserve during every visit.
Primary Care Services
We provide many of the same services as a family medical center, so you can get everything you need in one convenient location. These services include routine physical examinations, sports physicals, prescription refills, and immunizations. If you are ill, one of our physicians will take a detailed history and conduct a physical examination to determine the cause of your symptoms. We also have an on-site laboratory for your convenience.
Our online patient portal allows you to schedule appointments anywhere you have an Internet connection. When you fill out the appointment request form, be sure to give us your current telephone number so someone can confirm the appointment. You can also call us at (919) 929-7990. Bring your current insurance card and a list of medications to your appointment. If you have any specific questions for your primary care or internal medicine provider, it can be helpful to write them down before your visit. This will make it easier for you to remember what you wanted to ask so you do not miss out on important information.
If you have never visited our comprehensive primary care practice, plan to arrive at least 15 minutes before your scheduled appointment. This will give you time to complete all of the necessary paperwork. You can save time by downloading the new patient intake form from our patient portal and filling it out before you arrive, but you are not required to do so.
Your lifestyle and environment have a big impact on your health, so ask one of our primary care professionals about what you can do to prevent chronic illness. We have your well-being in mind at all times, so we can help you be proactive about identifying your risk factors and minimizing them. If you are concerned about your genetic factors for disease, your doctor will conduct a physical examination and order tests to establish baseline readings for cholesterol and blood sugar. It is also important to get your blood pressure taken regularly, especially if anyone in your family has a history of hypertension.
If you are interested in treatments such as acupuncture or mind-body therapies, we also offer integrative medicine consultations. During your consultation, you will discuss your health concerns and learn about traditional and integrative therapies that could help ease your symptoms and improve your quality of life.
At Chapel Hill Primary Care, we help you take a proactive approach to staying healthy. You will have the opportunity to build a relationship with your comprehensive primary care provider and spend as much time as possible discussing your health concerns. One of our experienced professionals can also suggest ways to reduce your risk for developing serious medical conditions and avoid injury.
